Miller says many treatment programs follow the same Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. And like in the case of Tiger Woods, rehabilitation must include an admission of fault, acknowledgement of the people harmed, and a strong support system. Miller says those combined forces were evident in the statement made Friday by Tiger Woods.
"He apologized and he talked about that he was going to show by his behavior that he was improving and not just his words," says Miller.
Miller also says there are several signs that you or a loved one may have an addiction. One includes taking risks. He says doing so can put one's career, family and other personal relationships at stake.
